Spraybond®Canister Disposal Guide
Cleaning and maintenance guide for Spraybond® canister adhesives and primers
We recommend cleaning your hose and gun when you’re laying down the adhesive for 7 days or more, this is to prevent the chance of blockages in your hose or gun – saving downtime.
The easiest way to flush out your hose and gun is using a cleaning adaptor, check our simple step-by-step or watch the video.
If you run into any trouble you can always contact our technical team who can troubleshoot any issues you may be experiencing and ensure you are up and running without a hitch.

Step one:
Once the canister is empty and depressurised follow the canister cleaning and maintenance guide to clean your hose and gun and disconnect them ready to go again another day, or if you’re carrying on – connect your assembly directly onto a new canister and open it up. Fresh adhesive on a secured hose will prevent it blocking up.
Leave the disconnected canister with its valve open for an hour to ensure any remaining gas has exited the canister before proceeding.
Step two:
Using a non-ferrous bar and mallet, pierce the circular pressure release disk below the handle and remove the disk – see image in this section. Now leave the canister for 24 hours allowing any residual adhesive to cure within the canister making it inert.
Step three:
Once fully de-pressurised it can then be disposed of as non-hazardous scrap waste in accordance with European waste directive code EWC 150104 (empty aerosol, no hazardous residues). Allowing for simple, stress free product disposal and although the canisters are non-refillable, once scrapped the canisters can be recycled.
In the event that a canister needs to be disposed of that is partially pressurised and contain adhesive or primer, it should be disposed of using the following European waste directive code EWC 160504 (full or partially empty aerosol).
